Hannah's Softball Season

Hannah decided to sign up for her 1st sport a couple of months ago since a friend asked her to play softball. Darren and I were both surprised and I made sure that she knew she had to wear a t-shirt that may not be pink and that she would have to run and possibly get dirty. She agreed that she would not get upset about the color of the shirt the team was given to wear and that she would not complain about practicing. She lucked out with the color of the shirt and she rarely complained about going to practices and games.

She knew nothing about "running the bases", batting or throwing a ball when she started and I felt sorry for her coaches. I think she tested their patience with her lack of sports knowledge. They actually took a lot of time with her and made sure she felt successful. She had fun, learned not to run to 1st base with the bat and learned that she had to actually touch the base when she got to it instead of jumping over it. The other parents really got a kick out of her. She is not convinced that she will play again next year!

Her team (the Cheetahs) came in 4th place out of 10 teams so they had a great season!

Max - Passing the Time

Max sits through his share of games and practices and after about an hour he starts searching for my phone to play games. When he gets tired of the games he then likes to take pictures and video of himself.

College World Series

We took the kids to the College World Series and it was a million degrees outside! Bill and Lana met us there and had a couple of extra tickets so Scott and Jamie were able to come with us. Our seats were awesome! Right behind home plate in the 13th row. We stayed until the 7th inning and Max was starting to get restless so we headed home for some air conditioning! Arizona ended up winning the entire series.

Trip to the Mall

Hannah and I needed some time away from the boys so we were heading out to the mall last weekend. Will was crying because he wanted to go and I felt bad so gave in to him. I told him that we were going to Justice to look at clothes but that not deter his begging. He was really excited to be with us and Hannah and him were laughing in the back seat.

Hannah tried on 20 things at Justice and every one of them was pink. Will was shocked at the number of things she picked out. He settled onto the big stool outside the dressing room for the 30 minutes while Hannah tried on multiple outfits and danced around the mirrors. She was forced to narrow down to her "favorites" and we were finally on our way.

We stopped for a cookie and an Icee and they both talked about how they felt like they were in preschool again when I use to take them to the mall. It was such a fun afternoon and so nice that they wanted to be together. On the way home Will said that going to the mall with Hannah and I was really fun and that he wanted to come every time!

Will's 1st Karate Tournament

Will took part in his first karate tournament over the weekend. It was very small and gave Will a good idea of what to expect in a larger tournament. There is a lot to know. More than in any sport that I have watched. I was lost trying to follow to scoring and rules. Will seemed to understand at least a portion of it. He really enjoyed it and looks forward to the upcoming Fall tournament.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!

Great Wolf Lodge

Jack wanted to go to Great Wolf Lodge for his birthday with a friend instead of having a party.  We headed to Kansas City last weekend and the kids were very excited. Maybe even more excited than they were to go to Disney. We arrived at lunch time and ate at the T-Rex restaurant. The kids thought it was neat but Max did not like the dinosaurs roaring.

They swam, played Magic Quest for hours and slept in the tree house bunk beds. I spent most of my time with Max so he has the most pictures! Jack and Nolan ran all over by themselves and had a great time. Jack reminded me that he had a phone in case I needed to get a hold of him. Darren and I were expecting a lot more but the kids loved it so I guess that is all that matters.
