Max and his 4-wheeler

Max
Jack
Will

To say that Max loves his 4-wheeler is an understatement. He asks me multiple times a day when dad will be home so he can ride. The first think he asks Darren when he walks in from work is "I ride my 4-wheeler?" He does not have any fear and it makes me nervous. Darren cut a new track up on the hill so the boys are riding a lot lately. Darren has asked Hannah but she is not interested!

Braids

Hannah will let me do about nothing to her hair these days. She will let me curl it, straighten it and put it in pony tails. That is it! Drives me CRAZY! I know how to braid and I have all of these cute hairstyles in my head but she won't even let me play around. She might actually like something if she would let me try it! No bows, no barrettes and no headbands with bows. I realize she is a big 1st grader now but does she have to have such a strong opinion?

A day last week I must have caught her at a week moment. I asked her if I could braid her hair (like I do every other day) and she agreed! She must be tired of me asking. She gave it the "once-over" when I was finished and announced that she liked it. She kept it in for a full 3 hours and then tore it apart. I think she was just trying to make me feel good. Since then I have asked her if I could braid her hair before school and I get an emphatic "no"! She then throws in "don't you wish Max was a girl so you could do his hair they way you want to?"

Jeff's 35th Birthday

Jeff turned 35 this week. Laurie, mom and I took him out for lunch. We forced Max in a picture and Claire of course climbed on Jeff's lap willingly.

Fall Festival

Each year I try and take the kids to the Mary Our Queen Fall Festival. It is where I went to grade school so it is kind of neat to see some of the people I went to school with long ago. This year Jack stayed home and had a friend over to play and Max wanted to stay with Darren and ride 4-wheelers. I took Will, Hannah and her friend Marin. I think the highlight were the large snow cones that they were able to order with how ever many flavors that they wanted!

Picture Day

It is so funny how Hannah anticipates picture day for weeks and has her outfit carefully planned out and Jack protests wearing a collared shirt! Will is indifferent and will wear whatever I lay out.

I asked them to "stand close together" right before we loaded into the car to go to school so I could get a quick picture and of course someone shoved someone else and then someone cried! Hence the horrible photo of Will!

PS: Hannah would not wear any type of bow in her hair. That even included a headband bow. I almost "cried" and forced it on her but then took a deep breathe and decided that it was just a cruddy school picture and wasn't worth making her miserable. The bows are about to hit retirement.

Thank you Will for the awesome picture!

Max's 1st Day of "School"

Max had his 1st day of Moms Day Out last week and told me multiple times that he wanted to go to "Jack's school" not his school. He wouldn't let me take any pictures of him so that is why they are are from the back! He had a lot of fun!

Go Big Red

Max was not at all happy about taking a picture with everyone outside before the 1st Husker game but was happy to cheer with Hannah's pom poms inside. Will was telling them to be quiet so he could watch the game and Jack was way too busy texting on his phone to taking anymore than the required group photo.

Rain

I am not sure what it is about rain boots and umbrellas, but Will, Hannah and Max have always loved them. Max and Hannah wear their boots on 90 degree days without a cloud in sight and dance with their umbrellas inside and out. After 100 days of no rain, it finally poured one evening. Hannah and Max went out to use their gear (Will was at a slumber party). Max told me he needed a winter hat!
