Superheros

The 2 little superheros in our family like to take mom's phone and take pictures and video of their conquests. Most of these were taken by Will. Will and Max spend a lot of time dressing up and battling the enemy with swords and other weapons. They set traps in case you come in their hide-outs and sometimes change multiple time depending on the situation with the enemies!

Karate & Swimming

Will has been asking us for quite a while to return to karate lessons. He took them when he was 3 & 4 but then had to choose between soccer and karate because they ended up being on the same nights. He is now at a new place that I like much better and you can quite and restart whenever you would like. He is really enjoying it and wants to go watch a competition. He will probably test for his 1st belt this summer.

Will and Hannah have been taking swim lessons for the last 8 weeks. They are painful to sit through with Max but necessary. They both enjoy them and took the final test seriously. Hannah passed out of level 2 and Will passed out of level 3. They will now be in class together again since levels 3 & 4 are taught together. It will be nice to cut the time we sit there in half!

Will climbs the tree outside while Hannah is swimming and Max looks for sticks and rocks!

Baby Drew

Mrs Simpson (Will's teacher and Darren and I's friend) and his wife Jamie had their baby a few weeks ago. Will, Hannah and I went to see him. He was so small and adorable. Will and Hannah held him the whole time so I only got about 3 minutes in. Next time I told them that they have to stay home so I can hold him!

Will's 1st Grade Field Trip

Will's class field trip this year was to the Lincoln zoo and Children's museum. My name did not get drawn to go on the bus with the kids so I drove down and met them. The kids and I had never been to the Lincoln zoo before. It is very small but it was nice. We were able to see everything in a little over an hour. Will thought the penguins were neat. He could have reached down and picked one up they were so close.

We ate lunch at the zoo and then spent a couple of hours at the Children's Museum. It was very hot (90 degrees) so Will had a hot bus ride home. Will wanted to hold my hand the whole time and always made sure that I stayed with the group. It was a great day to spend together.

Jack's 4th Grade Field Trip

Airplane flying competition

Jack's 4th grade class trip this year was to the State Capital and a history museum. The kids took the bus down to Lincoln and another mom and myself met them there. We first toured the Capital and then took a quick 3 minute ride to the museum. The museum actually fed all of the kids a sack lunch and then we broke into groups each with a tour guide. If you are a history buff you would love it, if not, 2 hours is an hour too long! Jack's favorite part was the airplane throwing contest at the end that he actually won! He was very excited. Jack was really looking forward to me coming with him. He only has 1 year of field trips left and they will be done forever! I better go while I can!

Fun Run 2012

Jack, Will and Hannah have a fundraiser each year at school called the "Fun Run". They walk over to the high school from their school and then walk or run around the track for 30 minutes while their laps are marked on a sheet of paper pinned to their backs. They each receive 2 laps just for walking to the high school.

Max and I went up to cheer them on and mark laps. Kindergarten was first thing in the morning and it was cold and windy. Hannah did great walking 8 laps which was 2 miles!

1st grade was next and it was still cold. Will ran 11 laps which was 2.5 miles.

4th grade came later at 11:40 and it was very warm by then. Jack ran 13 laps which was 3.2 miles! He ran the most in his class.

Max kept busy following me around and stomping in the nearby mud. He is kind of a local celebrity since most of the kids know him so he gets a lot of attention.

Hannah legs hurt for the next 2 days.

Cabin Trip April 2012

The kids were off school for Easter break for 6 days so Darren took Jack and Will to the cabin. They left Wednesday night and came back on Saturday in time for Easter.

They were really excited to go with Grant and Emma. I am not sure how much hunting they did but the highlight of the trip for Will was cutting down trees and throwing them in the ditch and have "dance-offs" to the song "I'm sexy and I know it". Jack was very impressed with an old abandoned school house they went in and an old house that had one room painted pink and another room painted blue.

I am glad they have Darren to take them to investigate all of this old stuff because they love it! They also rode 4-wheelers, shot guns, had bonfires, drank Mountain Dew (Jack was really happy about this), played Ipods and went to Rocket Pizza.

They did not want to come home and both said that they did not miss me. Will later told me he missed me "just a little bit".

Max was distraught when Darren left with his 4-wheeler and motorcycle and asked many times a day "dad come home?" He was so glad to see everyone back.

Hannah and I still have no desire to go to the cabin even though Jack and Will said that we would like it!

Easter at Grandma Gail's

After church on Easter we went over to Grandma Gail's house for lunch and an egg hunt. She assigns a different color egg to each child so everyone gets the same amount of eggs with their favorite candy inside. The kids told Max 50 times that he was orange and kept showing him an orange egg for reference. It was so fun to watch his face as he found his eggs. He kept looking in his bag to see how many he had. Jack enjoyed finding the money and gum in his eggs, Will liked the Twix and Snickers and Hannah was happy with anything chocolate.

The weather was perfect and Paul and Mary enjoyed watching the kids play and look for eggs. Max made sure to show both of them all of his orange eggs and then Grandma helped him empty them out of his bag. He held onto the two dollars he received for a couple of days afterwards.

Darren and Jack are not in many pictures. I guess they were hanging out together!
