Bug Day & Birds

Bug Day!

The Eggs! 1 has hatched!

Will had a bug day the last week of school and it rained so it had to be moved inside. The kids didn't seem to mind and I think their favorite station was digging for the worms in the dirt! Will loves it when I come to help in his room and does not really like it when the other kids run and give me hugs! He suddenly gets really affectionate which it nice! It is hard to believe that he is going to be in 1st grade. I just want to protect him from what comes with getting older. He has such a big heart and such a zest for learning. He told me he wants to read chapter books by the end of summer!

We have 2 nests of robin eggs and it was actually the first time I think I have ever seen robin eggs hatch! I was about attacked getting pictures of the babies. The mom was not happy! I have lifted the kids up to the trees many times to see the eggs hatch and the little chicks grow hair. It has been really neat!

Max & the 4-wheeler

Max has developed quite the love for not only wearing his helmet around the clock, but running to Darren's garage the minute you let him outside wanting to ride the 4-wheeler. Darren takes him on rides and teaches him how to gas it. He would ride with Darren for hours if Darren would let him! He may be riding alone by next summer!

Jack is always riding his 4-wheeler. I think it is a good outlet for him. He really loves it and anytime he can go through mud or a big puddle, he takes full advantage of it!

Field Trip, Fun Run, Last Blast Carnival & May Day

I finally downloaded pictures from my phone and realized there were a lot of things we did this month that I have not had time to write about.

Jack and Will had their Fun Run at school the first part of May. They walked to the high school and ran/walked as many laps as they could around the track in 15 minutes. They then collected pledges according to how many laps they completed. It was a very cold day but Jack and Will both ran the whole things and did great! Max, Olivia, Hannah and I handed out water and froze! Max completed 1 whole lap and for a minute I was worried he had ran off somewhere because it took his little legs a long time to get around that big track!

We all went to Jack and Will's school's Last Blast Carnival last weekend. It was held at the Sarpy County Fairgrounds and the kids were looking forward to it. Jack won a trophy for shooting 40 hoops in 2 or 3 minutes. It is being proudly displayed in his room. Will and Hannah got tattoos and they all played a lot of games and ate a lot of junk! It was really cold that night so it was nice that Max stayed home with Grandma.

On May Day, Will and Hannah made 20 May Day baskets and I drove them around to their friends' houses to ding dong and run. They were only caught once. They had a lot of fun but always get disappointed that no one drives over here to give them a May Day basket. Will waited by the door most of the day for someone to come and ring the door bell so he could catch them. Laurie, Olivia and Claire were nice enough to bring May Day baskets over but Will was disappointed that they stayed! He wanted them to sneak over and ring the door bell and leave!

The last week of school is here and the kids have had many activities over the past week. Jack had a field trip to Nebraska City, Will was suppose to go to Gifford Farms but had strep throat, Hannah went swimming at the YMCA and they all have had numerous other events in the classroom. It is hard to keep it all straight! Hannah has her preschool graduation this week and I am sad but she is so excited. Jack and Will have field day and Max is just along to enjoy it all with us!

Mother's Day 2011

Mother's day started with many handmade cards from the kids and "coupons" for things such as a kiss, hug. clean room, etc. I was very excited about these and loved each of the cards. The kids then were really excited for me to go outside and see what they had made for me. It took a few minutes to get everything set up and I was told to stay inside until told to come out. When I finally was told to come out I couldn't believe what Darren had thought up! He had each of the kids take a portion of the car and draw/write on it with Crayola window markers. It was so neat to see their different personalities in each of their windows. Jack was all "Gretna Dragons" and sports. Hannah kept with the girlie theme and Will drew his family and some hearts for me. They even remembered Max and drew him sleeping in his crib. When I first looked at it, it looked like somebody was in jail!

We went to Bill & Lana's house for brunch and met Laurie and the kids, Grandma Gail and Grandpa Jim. Will and Jack helped Grandpa Bill cook pancakes, eggs and sausage outside. It was a fun morning. Looking at the pictures I realized that I did not get any pictures of the kids with the Grandparents. That would have been a nice picture to have since everyone was there.

I have asked to redeem a couple of my "free hugs" and I had to tackle the kids to get the kiss. Hannah actually cried when Darren wrote one for her that said "clean my room". If you know anything about Hannah, you know that telling her to clean her room sets off loud sobs. She must realize the work she has ahead of her!

Mothers Day Tea

The mom's at Hannah's preschool were invited to a Mother's Day tea. They kids sang a few songs, gave us a beautiful gift and we had muffins. Hannah was so excited to sing her songs and finally have a plate that she created like Will and Jack.

Dance Recital 2011

Hannah had her long awaited dance recital over the weekend. We spent Friday evening at the rehearsal and we were up early Saturday morning to get her hair done. She has never had her hair done in a salon before so she was excited. It turned out exactly how she had asked and we were off to the Music Hall. She loved putting all of the make-up on, especially the red lipstick. Hannah was lucky enough to have both Grandmas and Grandpas in attendance along with Laurie and Olivia.

Hannah dances included Pom Pom, Finale, Tap and Ballet. She did a good job and loved both of her recital outfits although she wished everything could have been pink! Will and Jack came to her evening recital and were playing on their ipods after about the first 30 minutes. Hannah loved the roses from dad and bouquet that grandpa Jim made for her. It was a really fun day and I know that Hannah loved every minute!
