Husker Game with Will

On Saturday night I took Will to his 1st Nebraska game. It was a 6pm game so we left to head down to Lincoln around 2pm. We finally found a parking spot, sprayed Will's hair red and had some lunch. Will was too excited to eat! We walked around, looked in the busy book store and bought Will some Harry Husker tattoos. We watched the band perform outside the stadium and headed to our seats. I wish I could have taken a picture of his face when he entered the stadium. He immediately sat in the 1st seat in the 1st row and I had to explain to him that we had reserved seats we had to sit in. We headed up to row 11 and sat down.
When the Pledge of Allegiance started and the jets flew overhead, it took Will's breath away. He couldn't believe his eyes. When I put him to bed that night and asked him what his favorite part of his day was, he said "the jets".
We stayed until there were 10 minutes left in the game. Nebraska won 17 -3.
It was one of the best days I have had in a while. Spending a whole day with Will without distractions was wonderful. I was able to focus all of my attention on him. Will is so thoughtful and thankful. He never asks for much and I know that he was excited to have a special day with me.

Hannah 1st Day of School

Hannah started school a couple of weeks ago and I forgot to post the pictures until tonight when I downloaded the camera!

Hannah had been asking since Jack and Will started school back in August when it would be her turn. I think we started the 18 day countdown. On the 1st day she was very excited but not in the mood to shoot our required "first day of school front step" picture. She had all kinds of excuses like the sun being in her eyes, the dog was too close and her hello Kitty wanted to be with her. I managed to take a couple very quickly.

She is in the 4-year old class this year and it is hard to believe that she will be in Kindergarten next year. I always just felt that she would be home with me forever. I have been told that girls do not wear dresses and bows in Kindergarten. Anyone who knows me, knows that I will be devastated by this so I am going to get in all of the frills and fluff I can this year. Hannah is already starting to buck the bows unless they are on a headband and getting her to wear cute little pony tails almost never happens. She tells me that they are for babies. I pretend to cry when she refuses but I don't force it. I will save my battles for when she wants to wear a crop top to 1st grade. I tell her that I am going to sleep in her bed and hold her tight so she cannot grow any bigger.

P.S - Yes, it was 95 degrees on the 1st day of school but Hannah wanted to wear her winter vest.

The Tree House

Level 1 is complete
Painting the ramp that actually turned into a wall

Painting the steps
Can you see Jack among the branches up there?

Dad to the rescue

Hannah looking fully annoyed. She was told that there were "No Girls Allowed"

Over Labor Day weekend Jack started building a tree house with a few pieces of wood and some nails. Will soon joined in and then Darren went up to help. It started as just a couple of steps and a rope and turned into a little more. Jack loves pounding nails and building anything with scraps so he was busy most of the weekend.
Hannah was told that she was not allowed in the tree house which she was upset about at first, but then she said it was ok because she was going to ask Dad to build her a pink tree house! She is not much into bugs, dirt or being hot so I am not sure if a tree house would be for her!

Max & Avery

Be gentle with the huge thermos Max!

Max loves dogs. He really loves Avery. He screams when he sees him and chases him around until Avery wants outside to get away. Max drags his toys over by Avery and proceeds to hit him with them but only becasue he is so excited. After I take them away, he goes on to pat him. He has a stuffed dog that one of the others kids got when they were born. He sleeps with it and spends a lot of time chewing on it.

Go Huskers!

Today is the 1st Husker game and Hannah and Max had the spirit! Hannah is a picture hog and would not let me get a picture of Max by himself. Max would not sit still, he wanted the camera!

The Balloon has Landed

On their way to get a closer look

My camera has been in the shop so when I got it back yesterday and saw these pictures, I realized I forgot to post them. A few weeks ago the neighbors were over visiting and the kids were playing outside when one of the kids ran in saying that a hot air balloon was landing in our front yard. They sounded very urgent so we got up and went outside. Sure enough, a hot air balloon was landing in the neighbors yard! We have seen a lot of hot air balloons living out here and a couple have flown very low to our house but landing here was a first.

The balloon chaser car had already pulled in the neighborhood along with a couple of other cars that had followed the balloon to see where it would land. It came down so smoothly and within probably 20 minutes, they had the whole balloon and basket packed up and put away. Jack and Will rode down to get a close up.

It was really neat to see it so close up but it did not make me want to jump in next time!
