Will's Christmas Program in January

Will was set to have his preschool Christmas program the Friday before Christmas but due to ice that morning, school was cancelled and therefore the program was postponed. It was rescheduled for last week and we were excited to see how Will would do. He is our only child that will wear anything I iron and lay out without a word of resistance. So, he got dressed in his dress pants and button down shirt, untucked (that is an important part) like I wanted it and we headed off to school.
Hannah and I went into the church to save a few seats for dad and grandmas. The little 4 year olds walked in and took their places on the stage. As we watched Will, I about died when I saw that his teacher had tucked his shirt into his pants after he used the restroom. Not only was it tucked in but he looked like "Earl". Do you remember that show with the kids who's pants were half way up his chest? That was Will but not quite that severe. Thank goodness he was not in the front row. After I got over that initial shock and knew that it was minor in the grand scheme of things, I focused on the concert. Will did a great job and had a great time. After they sang all of their songs we all ate "Christmas cookies" and took a few pictures. He is getting so big and Darren and I are so proud of him. He tries so hard in preschool and loves every minute of being with the other kids.

Extra, Extra...

August 6, 2009

The kids are excited especially Will. Jack is already coming up with names and is wondering how the sleeping arrangements will change. He is always the one to wonder how this will benefit/affect him! I guess it is because he is older and can think along those lines. Will and Hannah want a girl and Jack wants a boy. Hannah is worried her beloved blanket will be passed down to this baby and repeatedly tells me that we need to get the baby a new one.

Claire had her baptism over the weekend and it was really nice. I will get the pictures uploaded tonight. She did really well and looked adorable.

Darren took the boys to see the movie "Mall Cop" over the weekend and they laughed a lot. Hannah and I stayed home and cleaned.

The kids had school off yesterday for Martin Luther King day and they were really bored. It was of course freezing out so I couldn't even suggest getting the scooters out. I also suggested we all take a nap but that didn't go over so well either. Next day off I will have to plan a trip to the Children's Museum or something.

Swim Lessons etc

As promised here is the update on swim lessons. Will loves it and asked to go back daily. Hannah does not despise it but she is not the 1st one in the car either. I think she may be a little too young but they are so good to her there and Will tries so hard to help her at all times. They always put another child between them and they always end up back next to each other. Hannah has her hands on the wall at all times even though the depth they are in is only 16 inches on the 1 end. Her teachers told me that she sucks in instead of blowing out which would be the cause of her uncertainty. We are working on it and she has improved even in one week. I tried to take some pictures through the glass which did not work out so well and I could not hang out inside to get good ones for fear Hannah would flee to me so this is as good as it gets. Hannah and Will are sitting together at the far end of the line.
Jack had a great week last week getting 100% on his 1st spelling test. This took nightly practicing for a week straight so he was very proud as was I. We are working hard on this week's words which are harder so we will see how it goes. I keep telling him that if he does not get them all right, I would still be very proud of him for working so hard to learn them but he really wants 100 again.
It was 11 below zero as I dropped Jack off at school this morning and all I could think about was summer. Only 12 more weeks to go!
I watched Olivia and Claire yesterday morning and got a couple of new pictures of little miss Claire. Olivia just wanted to watch Sleeping Beauty so she was not interested in our photo shoot. Getting Claire to smile without he mom around doesn't happen easily! Livvy is getting so big and she is so ready for Kindergarten. She is very eager to learn and write words.

Happy New Year!

Last week flew by so fast! On New Years Eve, Jack and Will went over to Grandma Gail's to have a slumber party. They were really excited and wanted to stay up really late. Darren and I took them over around 6pm with all of their bags and pillows and Grandma was ready for them with pizza, pop, popcorn and chocolate ice cream. Will and Olivia stayed up until about 11:30 and Jack was finally asleep sometime after midnight. They watched the ball drop and saw fireworks out grandma's window. They stayed up about 2 hours later than mom and dad!

After we dropped off the boys, Darren, Hannah and I headed out to eat. Hannah enjoyed her special night with just mom and dad. I think that may have been the first time that Hannah has had both of us alone with her. She really enjoyed it and asked when we could do it again. We then came home and that ended our New Years Eve celebration.

The next day we watched some of the Husker game and Darren left to go hunting. The kids and I went to see the movie "Bedtime Stories". Jack really enjoyed it and Will and Olivia were antsy by the last 30 minutes. Will then had his first slumber party at a friend's house and Jack had a friend over to spend the night at our house. Will did really well and stayed all night. He never even asked to come home. I was really proud of him. By Saturday, the kids were bored with me and wanted Dad to come home.

I think everyone had a really nice, relaxing break and the kids were ready to get back to school yesterday.

Will and Hannah start swimming lessons tonight so I will let you k,now how that goes. Will keeps telling me that he is going to drown and Hannah then repeats the same thing since Will is saying it. It might be quite a sight tonight!
The picture with Will in the blue short sleeve shirt is his preschool picture. The remainder are just other random pictures that were taken in November by the photographer.
