Fall Party etc..

It has been a really busy week and a half. Work has been a constant and we were getting ready for our annual fall party. My timing with my work conference and our party being the same week was not the best decision but I managed...barely. We had a great turnout this year for our fall party with at least 75 people coming over to enjoy chili, hayrack rides, pumpkin painting and A LOT of kids!! I was so busy that I barely took any pictures which I am now of course a little sad about. I didn't even get a picture of Jack painting his pumpkin. Come to think about it, I barely saw him the entire night. Will and Hannah stayed up as late as they could but at about 11pm Will came up to me and asked to go to bed! Jack was up until the last soul left after 1am. Don't worry though, no one slept past 8am the next morning.

That next morning was Sunday and I had to leave for Tampa at 3pm. I had done next to nothing to prepare for this trip other than work many hours to prepare for the actual conference. Thank goodness I stayed up very late on Friday night to write Darren 3 very detailed pages of notes regarding who need to be where and when. I also had to lay out all of Hannah's clothes due to her broken arm situation. I knew Darren would do ok but I was mainly worried about Jack since he gets very upset when I leave the house for any reason let alone leave town for 3 days! It is now Thursday, I am back from Tampa and everyone did great! Hannah had another X-ray of her arm today and her cast will be off the day before Halloween. YEA!!! Hannah quickly said "I can wear a pretty dress again?" She really misses her dresses and various shirt options. It really is the little unimportant things that matter to her sometimes.

We had Jack's school conferences tonight and they went well. They told us he is very well behaved, polite and does not disturb other kids. He is catching up on his reading and we will start working on Math as well. He really loves school and recess is his favorite subject.

That is it for now. I am trying to get back to getting to bed by midnight!

Above is the Ninja picture I promised in the previous post. I am still working on getting the school picture scanned.

Fall is here

Today as I was cutting some bushes back, I noticed my Gerber Daisies still blooming away and looking so "summery". I found myself dreading the approaching cold weather. I do love fall but it is so short-lived. I decided to take some pictures of fall around our house and Will and Jack dressing up as Ninjas. You may think that they are both going to be Ninjas for Halloween, but they are not. Jack would never trick-or-treat in the same costume as his little brother.
Hannah is doing much better with her arm. EVERY time she passes the spot where the fell occur, she stops and tells me about it and why I should not put her on the counter anymore. She finally has started to accept this cast and even touch it. She has also decided that it feels much better to wear the sling. She is becoming more independent again by the day but putting lids on markers is a very frustrating task! Say a little prayer for us tomorrow that the x-rays look good and that everything is beginning to heal!
I can't seem to find the Ninja picture right now but will post it tomorrow!

Did I mention that I forgot picture day last month for Jack. Yes, I sent him to school in his Husker jersey. I still feel awful. All of the other kids were dressed in their Sunday best and Jack walks in with his jersey on. Well, Jack brought the pictures home Friday and they look as I thought they would. To top it off, he wasn't even smiling. I can't decide whether or not to have him do the retakes since it will cost extra but it sure would make me feel better to have a nice 1st grade picture. I will scan it and upload it soon!

Crazy Color Day

Last Wednesday was CRAZY color day at Will's preschool. He was so excited even though he didn't really understand why I told him to pick out unmatching clothes. If only every day could be unmatching day, the morning would be so peaceful, especially with Jack! So, we sprayed his hair blue, his favorite color, and tried to find unmatching clothes. It is really hard to find wild unmatching clothes for boys. Their clothes are very plain!

Hannah's broken arm

Yesterday I was cleaning and cooking preparing for Will's 4th Birthday party and Hannah wanted to help me make lunch. I put her on the counter sitting down and stepped over to get a plate out of the cub bard. In that split second Hannah stood up to get the bread out of the cub bard behind her and fell. I watched her fall and couldn't get there in time. She laid there not shedding one tear. I new instantly that her arm was broke. I will never forget that image. As I screamed, Darren ran over and I told him her arm was broken. He took one look and must have agreed. Jack and Will got in the car as I held Hannah in the front seat on the way to the hospital. I feel terrible and will never forget her face looking up at me on that ride. Her arm is broken above the elbow and she is very uncomfortable. The cast must weigh 6-8 pounds so she has not walked at all yet. It hurts to have it dangle and she is not keen on the sling. She just wants to lay in bed. Things will get better as the days pass but right now I feel terrible for her! We got home about 5:00 and went ahead with Will's party at 6:00 since he had waited all week for it. I just couldn't cancel it on him. To him, all that mattered was his party so we had a good time and Hannah slept through most of it. The 2nd picture is late in the evening after Will's party. They had to cut her shirt off so she is wearing the hospital gown still. The 1st is this morning after her "sponge bath".

Birthdays!

It has been a busy week of birthday in our house. We celebrated Darrren's on Bill and Jeff's on September 17th, Darren's on September 29th and Will and mine on October 1st! Jack was not into participating in Darren's little party we had for him, hence the pictures of Just Darren, Hannah and Will. Will opened his presents from us on his birthday and we had his family party yesterday. He was so excited and waited all day for everyone to come over. We now own half of all of the "Go Diego Go" toys in the store. It was nice to get everyone together. My little baby is now 4! He has grown so fast and is so proud of himself. He is such a loving little boy and is really becoming his own person. We love you WILL!!!
